Twelve years ago everything changed for Linda Wegner, currently residing in Powell River, B.C. She had been a pastor's wife for the majority of her life and due to some unexpected challenges Wegner took on the role of family wage earner. This change, though a very difficult period of her life, has resulted in Wegner writing her fourth book titled, 3D Success: Changing Careers in Midlife.

On Tuesday, Oct. 16, Wegner decided to hold her book release and signing at the Stoughton Library where over 20 people were present.

Wegner had lived in Stoughton with her family for quite awhile. She became close to many, so the crowd gathered that night was made up of familiar faces and friends.

"We left our small community to go to a new city. Our friends disappeared in our rear view mirror, and that's all of you," Wegner said.

Wegner recorded her experiences as she and her husband moved to Saskatoon, she found a position with a company in the United States, moved to British Columbia where they are currently still living, and worked hard to provide through the ups and downs of the job market.

Writing became a passion as well as a job. The pay she has said was not lucrative, but she was able to make up for this in quantity. Wegner wrote and continues to write columns for a number of newspapers including The Observer and had been the Stoughton news correspondent for many years before the unexpected challenges developed.

It was a huge change going from a pastor's wife to a business woman, but Wegner successfully made the transition and has owned her own business for years, Words of Worth. Her fourth book ultimately developed through simply recording what she has gone through the past 12 years.

"It took me one year to write the book. It had started as a journal," explained Wegner, "... it's a journal of where I've come from."

Wegner shared a couple of passages from her book with those present along with what the 3D's in her title alludes to; discovering your passion; developing your plan; and, defending your priorities. Wegner explained that each chapter is made up of three sections. There is the content of the chapter, the lessons Wegner learned through her experiences, and a variety of exercises to end each chapter with. The exercises are really just things to think about and ways to effectively make the decisions needed to change careers.

To order, 3D Success: Changing Careers in Midlife, there has been a sign-up sheet placed in the Stoughton library. Currently her publishing company is targeting book store chains, religious book houses, and various online stores as well including Amazon. Wegner has also donated a copy of the book to the Stoughton library.

The atmosphere of the evening was very much like friends visiting. They enjoyed coffee, tea, and dainties.

Up next for Wegner is the finishing and release of another book, Daffodils in January. Each of these chapters has been published through a variety of independent magazines. Wegner having battled cancer 20 years ago has put together her writings from this time accompanied by psalms. Each chapter is filled with hope and faith.

Everyone was extremely pleased to be reunited with a friend. They were thankful Wegner decided to share this moment in her life and her book with them, while Wegner was pleased to see so many friendly faces.
