Local youth receives prestigious award

Sixteen year old army cadet, Master Warrant Officer, Kyle Wilton of Stoughton was recently awarded with the Lord Strathcona Medal at the annual ceremonial review night held in Weyburn on May 22.

Sixteen year old army cadet, Master Warrant Officer, Kyle Wilton of Stoughton was recently awarded with the Lord Strathcona Medal at the annual ceremonial review night held in Weyburn on May 22.

The medal recognizes a cadet's outstanding performance and for his involvement in all unit activities. He also received his National Star of Excellence Level 1.This is not the first time Wilton has been recognized. In 2011 he received the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence for outstanding cadet service and citizenship and comradship. He has been a cadet for five years and is going into his last year where he hopes to achieve the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.
