Moose Mountain Ag Day coming soon

It's that time of year again, the 12th Annual Moose Mountain Ag Day will be held on Feb. 5 at Prairie Place Hall in Arcola and will be host to an Ag Trade Show as well as five knowledgeable speakers on a variety of topics.

It's that time of year again, the 12th Annual Moose Mountain Ag Day will be held on Feb. 5 at Prairie Place Hall in Arcola and will be host to an Ag Trade Show as well as five knowledgeable speakers on a variety of topics.

Registration for the Ag Trade Show begins at 10:30 a.m. and everyone will be welcomed to the event at 12:30 p.m. with the first speaker starting their presentation at 1 p.m.

Dr. Arden Anderson, a flight surgeon with USAF Reserves, he is well versed in the relations between agriculture and human health. The presentation will focus on the link between soil and human health as well as the solutions needed to maintain and restore a healthy relationship in agricultural practices.

At 2:15 p.m. following Dr. Anderson's presentation there will be a brief coffee break, which will then lead to Drew Lerner's presentation at 2:45 p.m. Lerner, President and Senior Agricultural Meteorologist of World Weather, Inc. is well versed weather forecasting as he has been working in this area for over 30 years. He focuses on both short and long term predictions associated with major crop producing areas worldwide.

At 4 p.m. another coffee break will be taken allowing for individuals present to search through the trade show booths set up in the hall.

Mark Folk will begin his presentation at 4 p.m. which is titled, "Farm Land Ownership in Saskatchewan." His involvement with the Farm Land Security Board as well as his experience in various government positions and work with the Livestock Loan Guarantee Program means he is well versed in this topic.

Jerry Klassen will then speak at 5 p.m. following Folk's presentation. Klassen will address crop and livestock markets. Through his diverse experiences in the grain industry, he has been a market analyst with Cattlemen Magazine and Grainews for a number of years. Klassen has also been involved with market consultations for feedlots in both Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Supper will follow at 6 p.m. The night will then conclude with a presentation by Greg Johnson, Tornado Hunter or Storm Chaser, as he is commonly nicknamed. He is a professional storm chaser and has been involved in this risky career for more than 10 years. From thunder storms and tornadoes to hurricanes and blizzards, Johnson is dedicated to documenting and researching extreme weather.

Tickets for the day are $25 a piece or $200 for a table seating eight people.

For those in the agricultural industry this day is sure to be filled with a wealth of knowledge for farmers and ranchers in the area.
