The Moose Mountain Air Cadets held their 50th Annual Ceremonial Review on May 7. The inspection of #723 Moose Mountain Air Cadet Squadron was performed by the reviewing party: Retired CO Morley Hamilton, Capt. Walter White, Diana Hoff, Lori Carr, and Honourable Don Toth.

The Cadets stood at attention as they were reviewed. They then performed a series of drills. Marching altogether at first, then they broke off into a First Year drill and Senior Drill as they showcased their skills.

The night also saw Cadets win various awards for their participation in the squadron. FSgt. Daniel Hoff took home the Area Directors Trophy that evening. Sgt. Colton Wilson received the Officers Choice award. The Esprit De Corps went to Sgt. Karly Hutton. Sgt. Alex Stevenson took home two awards: Leadership Award and Outstanding Drill. Two awards were given for In Recognition of Service, the recipients being WO2 Shelby Gaudet and Sgt. Ivan White.

Air Cadets of Canada have summer camps across Canada. It is quite an achievement to be chosen for them. "They learn so much at camp, not just about cadets, but about life in general." Lt. Tracy Akins stated. It is a wonderful learning experience for youth and this year from the Moose Mountain squadron five have been selected.

These youth include Lac Marc Nelson who will be attending General Training. Cpl. Gavin Walter is also to attend General Training. Cpl. Michala Linklater has been accepted into the Basic Leadership camp, while Sgt. Alexander Stevenson will be attending the Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace camp. WO2 Ivan White has been accepted as staff at the Cold Lake, AB camp. Excited for their new experiences to come, they must first await summer.

On Friday, May 11, they held a 50th Anniversary Wing Parade. Four squadrons came together to march at Kenossee. Holding a barbeque, the parade, and a dance for the cadets, it was a great success. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The rest of the weekend saw five squadrons of cadets partake in a Mudroller, which is part of their training focused on survival, fitness, and fun.

The next event in the Air Cadet calendar is a trip to Brandon on May 19. They will experience the excitement of going up in a glider with an experienced pilot.

The Air Cadet League of Canada is a great organization for youth to become involved in. It is supported by the Canadian Department of Defence; while within the community the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Members are very encouraging. If your children are interested in joining next year's group contact Lt. Tracy Akins of Redvers.
