Students at Gordon F. Kells High School celebrated their mothers on May 11 by bringing them to a pancake breakfast organized by the Teen Council. Members of the Teen Council did everything from shopping for groceries to cooking the meal. Eight of the students arrived at 7:30 to begin preparing the meal.

Sausages, pancakes, coffee, and juice were on the menu for breakfast. Mothers were welcomed by Amy Rutten, teacher and Teen Council supervisor, and they then began dishing up. Many students brought their mothers for breakfast, happily sitting with and chatting among friends and family.

A draw of three baskets of flowers was done at the end of the breakfast with Regi Marr, Laurie Bouchard, and Richelle McAuley winning them. A student draw was also done for a Hunger Games poster, which was won by Megan McAuley.

The next pancake breakfast to be held will be for Father's Day. Everyone present joked about how they better not forget to hold it. Or if they did hold it they'll know if nobody enjoyed the food, as they won't be bringing their fathers in.

The Teen Council and Ms. Rutten were happy with how the day turned out, getting rid of leftover food by getting students who began filing into the school to finish it off. While discussing the breakfast and the Teen Council Ms. Rutten was happy to say "I have a very active bunch on Teen Council." She explained that they plan something for every holiday, sell muffins every day, and organize fun things for the students to take part in. It just so happened that the Mother's Day breakfast was held on Pajama Day, so most of the students and teachers had arrived in their PJ's.
