Motor vehicle accidents result in injuries

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the period of August 5 to 12: During the reporting period, police dealt with 89 calls for service. *On August 11, police were called to a noisy party in the 200 Block of Lorraine Street.

During the reporting period, police dealt with 89 calls for service.

*On August 11, police were called to a noisy party in the 200 Block of Lorraine Street. One of the homeowners became belligerent toward the police and then followed the police to the street, where he continued to be belligerent. After repeated warnings to go back to his residence the 19-year-old male was arrested and lodged in cells. The investigation is ongoing, but he may face charges of assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

*Police received a complaint of a man passed-out in the downtown area. A passed-out 21-year-old male was located, taken into custody and lodged in cells until sober.

*On August 10, police were called to a local night club to deal with several fights that had ensued. Many of the combatants were gone before the police arrived.

*Police responded to a report of a break-in to one of the Weyburn schools. It did not appear that anything had been taken. The matter is still under investigation.

*On August 9, police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Third Street and Hwy #39. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and a traffic light was also damaged. A 54-year-old male and a 52-year-old female from one vehicle, as well as a 51-year-old female from the other vehicle, were taken to the Weyburn General Hospital and then all were transferred to Regina with undetermined injuries. The matter is still under investigation but charges are expected to be laid. Alcohol was not a factor.

*On August 8, police received information regarding a vehicle that had been stolen from Edmonton and believed to be in Weyburn. The vehicle was located in the 400 Block of Fourth Street and was seized.

*On August 5, police were dispatched to a local pub where a patron was complaining of having received a beating by an unknown assailant. The 35-year-old victim sustained minor injuries. The matter is still under investigation.

*In the early morning hours of August 6, the police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision in the 1300 block of 13th Street. A vehicle travelling eastbound had lost control, colliding with a tree on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle sustained severe damages and caught on fire. Two 19-year-old males were in the vehicle and were transported to the Weyburn General Hospital and then to Regina with serious injuries. Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor. The matter is still under investigation with charges expected to be laid.

*That same morning, at the same time, a 19-year -old male walked into the police station telling the dispatcher he wanted to commit suicide. The male was taken to the Weyburn General Hospital where he was assessed and admitted to the psychiatric facility.
