Nickle Lake and Mainprize Regional Parks to celebrate Canada Day

Both Nickle Lake and Mainprize Regional Parks will be holding a number of activities to celebrate Canada Day on Saturday, July 1.

WEYBURN – Both Nickle Lake and Mainprize Regional Parks will be holding a number of activities to celebrate Canada Day on Saturday, July 1.

At Nickle Lake, the bike parade and a petting zoo from Houligan Acres will be highlights for the children, and the Souris River Smoke Barbecue Showdown and live entertainment are available for the adults, along with a beer garden, and a site decorating contest.

Houligan Acres will have their petting zoo onsite from 1 to 3:30 p.m., and a bike parade will be held with prizes for the best decorated bikes, followed by activities at the Beaver Den.

Live entertainment will include Jenn Morin from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Richard Beach from 5-6 p.m., and Dennis and Curtis Ficor from 6-9 p.m.

The barbecue showdown will go on July 1 and 2, and the beer gardens will feature Great Western Brewery and Bandits Distilling products.

At Mainprize Regional Park, Canada Day activities include a Farmer’s Market hosted by the Midale Plus One Club at Pederson Place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a variety of activities and games for the whole family.

From noon to 3 p.m., the Estevan Bible Camp will host a climbing wall, and a sand castle competition will be held at 3 p.m.

Bouncy castles are available from 3-7 p.m., and a hot dog roast will be supplied by Big Bob’s Meats from 4 to 7 p.m., sponsored by an anonymous donation. Bring your own chairs and sticks.

The annual cart parade will be held at 2 p.m., with entries to line up at the maintenance shop at 1:45 p.m., and the boat parade will follow at the harbour.

A cabaret will be held at Pederson Place featuring Lone Rambler 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., followed by DJ Randy Bakaluk at 10 p.m. There will be a beer gardens and 50/50 raffle draw, cash only.

There will be fireworks at dusk brought to you by Paradise Fireworks.

A free pancake breakfast will be held at Pederson Place on Sunday, July 2, from 8-11 a.m.

There will be a showing of The Super Mario Bros. Movie at 2 p.m. at Pederson Place. Tickets $5 per family (limit of 4 people per $5 entry). A canteen will be available, cash only.
