Nominations now open for Women of the Year awards

Quota International of Weyburn, in partnership with Sask Power, launched the 2013 Women of the Year Awards at the Legion on February 5.

Quota International of Weyburn Women of the Year Co-chair Lorraine Wilkinson received a cheque from SaskPower representative Sandy Whitford during the Women of the Year nomination launch on February 5. SaskPower is a partnering sponsor for the awards luncheon, which takes place on April 15. The public is encouraged to nominate a deserving woman before March 15.

Quota International of Weyburn, in partnership with Sask Power, launched the 2013 Women of the Year Awards at the Legion on February 5.

The SaskPower Workplace Excellence Award will be presented to a woman who has excelled in the workplace by displaying a superior effort and a true desire to significantly improve her profession, work environment and/or work efficiency.

The Quota International Community Service Award is to recognize a woman who, as a volunteer, has demonstrated a commitment to enrich her community, to alleviate social inequities, to strengthen volunteer participation, to educate or provide leadership in the community.

The Access Communications Exceptional Entrepreneur Award is presented to a woman for exceptional leadership or innovation in starting, operating or owning a business and who remains active in the business.

The Investor's Group Young Woman of Distinction Award is presented to a young woman between the ages of 18 and 30 who has made a significant contribution to the life in her community and who demonstrates a capacity for leadership.

Emcee Isabelle Butters declared the nominations open and encouraged individuals to nominate women for these awards.

Funds raised from the awards will benefit disadvantaged women and children as well as people with impaired hearing and speech.

SaskPower has been involved with the Women of the Year Awards since its inception.

Women of the Year Co-chair Lorraine Wilkinson received a cheque from SaskPower representative Sandy Whitford.

"Quota International of Weyburn takes pleasure in honouring the women of Weyburn," said Quota president Kate Dammann. Nomination forms are available at Brady's House of Flowers. The deadline for submission of nominations is March 15. The nominees will be announced at a tea on March 25 and the award luncheon will take place April 15.
