A community pancake breakfast was hosted by Carlyle Pentecostal Assembly on Sunday, Sept.9. The event was held as part of the church's four week challenge event. The kick-off for the challenge began at 10:15 am in the church parking lot. Picnic benches were set up on the left side surrounded by a large pancake buffet. The volunteers went all out, serving sausages, fruit mixtures and of course the fluffiest pancakes on the planet. If the food and friends weren't enough, the right side of the parking lot was filled with blow up bouncy castles. The Pentecostal Assembly has become pretty well known for their blow up buildings, bringing them to all of the surrounding community events. The children enjoyed their supervised play time, while their parents and other adults got a chance to catch up.The weather couldn't have been better, with the sun shining and surprisingly warm temperatures.Participants in the four week challenge are asked to attend church for four continuous weeks in September, giving worship a second chance. The whole point of the event is to show people that church doesn't have to be boring and that Carlyle Pentecostal Assembly does things a little differently. Their unique advertising certainly proves this with photos of dentists, super heroes and hockey players appearing everywhere.Details can be found in the cards placed in your mail box, posted around town or weekly in the Observer.
