Pioneer Day, Annual fair in Ogema

The Annual Ogema Fair and Pioneer Day weekend kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. at the CPR park on Saturday, July 6. On Saturday, the parade will go down Main Street at 10 a.m.



The Annual Ogema Fair and Pioneer Day weekend kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. at the CPR park on Saturday, July 6.

On Saturday, the parade will go down Main Street at 10 a.m., followed by barrel racing and a kids' rodeo at the regional park. Exhibits will be on display at the recreational complex all day as well as a slo-pitch tournament. In the evening, a dance and cabaret will be held at the recreational complex.

On Sunday, the Deep South Pioneer Museum has its Pioneer Day celebration. The day starts with a pancake breakfast on the ground at 8 a.m. At 10 a.m., the breakfast will end and the buildings will open up so people can tour the museum, free of charge. At 11 a.m., a church service will begin. After church, music and demonstrations will begin and run till 3 p.m. Some of the demonstrations available include roping, grinding wheat into flour and a blacksmithing demonstration. At 3 p.m., there will be a parade on the grounds, followed immediately by a threshing bee.

"There's something doing all day long," said Ken Schmidt, chairman of the Deep South Pioneer Museum.
