Plane that crashed near Shaunavon was headed for Estevan

SHAUNAVON - The federal Transportation Safety Board deployed two investigators following a plane crash near Shaunavon on Sunday morning that left two people dead.

The plane, a Cessna 172, departed from Swift Current earlier on Sunday and was headed to Estevan for a pipeline inspection. 

The crash occurred approximately 11 kilometres south-southwest of Shaunavon and there was a post-impact fire. 

The TSB investigators arrived Monday afternoon to gather information and assess the occurrence. The investigators are working on the site again on Tuesday.
