Police advise against sharing explicit photographs

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of June 9 to 16:

*On June 16, police responded to a report of a male passed out on the ground behind a local school. Police transported the male to his residence and left him in the care of his mother.

*While on general patrol, police observed numerous street signs pulled out of the ground. Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service.

*A woman attended the office and reported being assaulted the previous evening in the downtown area. She attended for medical attention as a result of injuries incurred during the altercation. The matter is under investigation and the identity of the female responsible for the assault is not known at this time.

*Police attended a residence as there was damage done to a decorative light in their yard. The individual responsible is not known at this time.

*Police attended to a domestic dispute over property. Police attended to keep the peace. The property settlement remains outstanding between the parties, but the individuals parted ways.

*Police attended a downtown bar to deal with a drunken patron who was outside causing problems after being refused service. The individual was taken to his hotel room without further incident.

*On June 15, police attended a complaint of a noisy party. The male person in charge of the property was charged under the city bylaw.

*A resident of the northeast area of the city reported that the rear window to his home was smashed. Anyone with information regarding this is encouraged to report to Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or contact the Weyburn Police Service.

*On June 14, police received a complaint about of young person forwarding sexual explicit photographs. The matter is under investigation. People are reminded that photographs and messages on social media outlets are not private. They can not only be hurtful, but also can be captured, forwarded and saved. These types of incidents can lead to bylaw or criminal code charges. Police are asking citizens of all ages to think before they post and send messages and report any occurrences with which they may need assistance.

*On June 13, police attended a local bar in regard to a male who was passed out on the floor. He was arrested and lodged in cells for being intoxicated in a public place and released once he sobered.

*On June 11, in the early hours of the morning, police were advised to watch for a possible impaired driver heading into Weyburn from Yellow Grass. Police located the vehicle and arrested the male driver for impaired driving. He was transported to the Weyburn Police Service where he refused to complete a full breath test and was charged under the criminal code for refusal. In addition, he was found to be a suspended and impoundable driver and charged accordingly and released from cells once sober.

*Police received a call about a male sleeping on pallets near a local vehicle dealership. The male was found to be the one who was charged above. He was advised to move from the site and informed about various transportation options out of the city.

*Police attended Clark Park in Weyburn and reminded those using the park that alcohol is not allowed at this public location and that if observed it may be seized and individuals may receive tickets under the alcohol and gaming regulations act.

*Citizens are asked to report any information to the Weyburn Police Service that they might know about a vehicle tire slashing that occurred near Park Avenue.
