Police deal with damages to WJH, cars

Police received a report from Weyburn Department of Social Services on July 8, that three of their vehicles had antennas damaged or broken. The matter is under investigation.

A local resident reported their residence broken into on July 11. Entry was gained through an unlocked door. Missing is a flat screen television and a Sony Play Station. Anyone with information about this incident is requested to contact the Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

In the early hours of the morning of July 7, police observed a vehicle that had its bright lights on, drive over a curb. A 28-year-old male intoxicated driver was arrested and refused to provide a breath test. Subsequently, he was charged under the Criminal Code with refusal and impaired driving and also under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to dim headlights when meeting a vehicle. Court is set for later this month.

While on patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and was met with a strong odor of cannabis on July 9. The 20-year-old driver and registered owner of the vehicle was arrested and charged under the controlled drug and substances act for possession along with Criminal Code charges for breaching his pre-existing undertaking. In addition, his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police are investigating an incident that occurred at a local bar on July 11 where a 20-year-old female and a 26-year-old male were involved in a physical altercation. The male is believed to have grabbed the female and then was struck in the face with a bar glass. He received medical attention. The matter is under investigation.

Police attended the same establishment in regard to a fight involving four males in their 20s and 30s on July 11. The incident is under investigation.

Police received numerous reports about a wandering four-year-old boy who was alone and crossing Highway 39 on July 13. Patrols located the boy and took him back to his residence and left him in the care of his both of his parents. The boy left the residence without both parents knowing.

Three 17-year-old female residents were found by police patrol to be on the roof of a local business. The females were warned about their actions.

Police received a report on July 13 of an intoxicated male at River Park with his pants down around his ankles. Police arrested the 19-year-old male for being intoxicated in public. He was lodged in cells until he sobered.
