Police deal with multiple thefts, vandalism

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of April 9 to 15. During the reporting period, police received 102 calls for service, including seven commercial and five residential alarms.

*On April 15, a homeowner was warned about their noisy stereo after a complaint was received.

*A male was arrested and subsequently charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08.

*A landscaping brick was thrown at a vehicle smashing the passenger window and denting the car.

*On April 14, police responded to a fight at a local area bar. One of the combatants was gone when police arrived and the other person suffered minor injuries. No charges were laid.

*The sign off the roof of a Taxi was stolen.

*Police responded to a bar fight, but the individuals were cleared from the area before police arrived.

*After receiving a complaint about a number of individuals drinking outside of a bar, a quantity of liquor was dumped on the ground. The fine for consuming alcohol in a public place carries a fine of $360.

*Police attended a domestic dispute. One of the residents left the home willingly and no charges were laid.

*A car collided with a motorcycle at an intersection. The car had been travelling northbound and its driver had attempted to make a left turn at an intersection without yielding to the southbound motorcycle. The person on the motorcycle suffered very minor injuries and the driver of the car was charged for failing to yield.

*On April 13, a GPS unit was stolen out of a vehicle.

*While stopped at a bus stop, a male set his wallet down on a seat, it was stolen. A call to police was made after the bus had left the City. Police were unable to get the bus stopped to check the individual responsible for the theft.

*On April 12, after receiving a complaint of a hit and run accident, police located and arrested an individual for impaired driving. Charges were also laid for impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and failure to report an accident.

*On April 11, two children were spoken to by police. They had been ringing a homeowner's doorbell and trying to sell candy.

*The driver's-side mirror was smashed off of a vehicle.

*Police responded to a local area bar regarding a fight. Three individuals were warned about their actions and were sent on their way.

*An individual's wallet and a quantity of cash was stolen from his vehicle.

*A vehicle was damaged in a hit and run accident.

*A wallet and a bag of candy was stolen out of a vehicle while parked in the homeowner's driveway.

*Police are investigating an assault that occurred at a facility run by the City of Weyburn.

*On April 10, after receiving an anonymous complaint, police warned a resident about a noisy party.

*Police responded to a fight at a local bar. The parties involved were removed from the area.

*A male was charged for mischief after tampering with a motor vehicle.

*An intoxicated male was removed from a city office when it was determined that he was on conditions not to be in the building.

*A residential area was patrolled after receiving a complaint about a party and kids running around through yards, urinating etc.

*The side mirrors of a vehicle were broken off and left lying on the street.

*All of the windows, the headlights and taillights were smashed out of a vehicle. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

*A number of youths were spoken to by police after they'd had a fight. They were throwing rocks at each other and a vehicle was damaged. All of the people were too young to be charged.

*On April 9, an officer directed traffic at a Railway Crossing when a heavy Railway Service vehicle got stuck and needed to be pulled out of the ditch.

*After receiving a complaint about a noisy party, approximately 50 youths were encouraged to leave a residence and the area of the party.

*A local resident received a call from a person identifying himself as a computer technician working on behalf of Windows. No information or funds were exchanged.

*Police received a complaint of a noisy stereo. The homeowner was warned about the noise.

*Culprit(s) smashed a window at a church causing approximately $150 in damage.
