Police deal with threats; assault

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of March 7 to 13:

*A 23-year-old male from Weyburn is facing charges of uttering threats following an incident during the early hours of March 13. The male called the police station and stated to the officer on the telephone that he was going to shoot the officer in the head. The male was taken into custody and released on conditions. The accused will be making a court appearance in May.

*On March 11, an accident occurred between a van and a semi at the intersection of Queen Street and First Avenue NW. Due to the blizzard and zero visibility, the semi drove into the ditch and the van came along and struck the trailer being towed by the semi. There were no injuries and damage was minor.

*On March 9, the Heritage Apartment building on Seventh Street had some mischief done to the building. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.

*A construction company had some equipment stolen from a job site on March 9. A fuel slip tank and manual pump were taken from the construction area of the Weyburn Credit Union. Investigation is ongoing.

*Police are investigating a complaint of an assault that occurred in a parking lot. A 29-year-old female from Weyburn claimed that while she was parked in the parking lot, a 24-year-old female known to her had approached her and assaulted her. Investigation is ongoing.

*Police continue to investigate damage that occurred to the Weyburn Comprehensive School on March 6. Persons damaged windows and doors on the west side of the school.

*During the past week police service members dealt with 118 calls for service.
