Police investigate assaults, incidents of fraud, mischief

During the week of Mar. 19-25, Weyburn Police Service members responded to 93 calls. Assistance was given to a young lady on Mar. 19 who complained about an ex-boyfriend showing nude pictures of her to his friends.

Assistance was given to a young lady on Mar. 19 who complained about an ex-boyfriend showing nude pictures of her to his friends. Officers attended his residence and the pictures were deleted from electronic devices.

A young woman was arrested on a Regina-based warrant on Mar. 19. She was served the necessary court documents and released to attend court on a future date.

An investigation into a child being abused physically was started on Mar. 19. The incident started over a disagreement between the parents. During the confrontation a child ended up being assaulted as well. Social Services are assisting in the investigation.

A woman complained about her daughter receiving threats from another woman on Mar. 22. The threat implied that she would be ran over by a vehicle. Charges are pending.

A woman called from Ontario reported that her daughter was living in an abusive relationship. The couple had recently moved from Ontario. The matter was resolved and they were encouraged to seek counselling.

A mother attended the station upset that her daughter was being abusive and breaking items in their home on Mar. 22. The situation was mediated without charges.

An elderly gentleman gave out his credit card number to telephone solicitors on Mar. 21. The matter was obviously fraudulent. Advice was given to cancel the transaction and the credit card.

Police were called to assist the staff at the King George on Mar. 19. Several customers had been asked to leave and were refusing to comply. Once they knew police had been called they left before police arrived.

A conflict developed between owners of two vehicles parked at the Real Canadian Wholesale lot on Mar. 20. A man was upset that a woman parked too close to his vehicle. He threatened to ram his vehicle into hers if she didn't move.

Assistance was given to EMS so they could attend an injured person call at Navou Park on Mar. 21. As a result of a fight inside the trailer a man had cut his arm and needed treatment. One man was arrested and taken to cells, and another was taken to hospital.

A young woman entered an apartment building on Bison Ave. on Mar. 21. She was intoxicated and kicked in an apartment door. She was arrested and held in cells till sober. She was charged for mischief and breaching her conditions on previous court sentences.

A landlord requested assistance on Mar. 21 in controlling a former tenant who continued to enter the dwelling after the rental agreement was expired. The matter was resolved without charges.

A complaint was received on Mar. 21 about people parking in the alley behind 1833 Coteau Ave. Several vehicles were ticketed. This parking situation could be dangerous if fire vehicles needed to access this area.

An impaired driver was involved in an accident in the Barber Crescent area on Mar. 21. The man responsible for the accident was charged with impaired driving and open liquor in a motor vehicle.

An alleged assault happened in the Souris Valley grounds on Mar. 21. A man was charged for assaulting two young girls.

An erratic driver was observed on Fifth Street by police on Mar. 21. The man driving was apprehended in the downtown area, and was charged for impaired driving.

An erratic driver operating his vehicle without lights about 4 a.m. on Sims Ave. service road was stopped by police on Mar. 22. The driver was on conditions not to leave Manitoba. Investigators later discovered that the driver had a death wish and wanted to be killed by a semi in a head-on accident. His family was contacted in Manitoba and they attended Weyburn. Arrangements were made for the man to receive mental health treatment.

A follow up investigation was done on a residential premise on Mar. 22. The owner has a lifetime ban on being able to have animals in his care. More charges are pending.
