Between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. on Feb. 27, a black 2006 Dodge Ram was stolen from a residence located on Johnston Drive. The stolen truck has Saskatchewan licence number "LNSBRY" on it.

To date the vehicle has not been located; if seen, please call 911 or the Weyburn Police Service immediately.
During the same time period of midnight and 5 a.m., several vehicles located in the city's east end were broken into. Approximately 20 vehicles in the Dieppe Drive, Tom Hart Drive, McKinnon Bay, McGillivray Drive, Greystone apartments, and Nexans area were broken into or gone through. Most of the items taken from the vehicles were cash and electronics, but one vehicle did contain a firearm which was also stolen.
On the same date at approximately 9 a.m., the Weyburn police recovered a vehicle located in the Weyburn Junior High School parking lot which had been reported stolen out of Moose Jaw.
It appears these early morning incidents are related and the investigation continues. If you have any information regarding these incidents please call the Weyburn Police Service as soon as possible.
Police received a complaint of a hit-and-run accident on Feb. 24; the complainant was driving west on Souris Avenue approaching a green light, when a truck pulled in front of the complainant's vehicle, striking the vehicle. The other driver then failed to stop and left the scene of the accident. The suspect vehicle is described as an older white truck from the 1970's to 80's, with blue and red marks on the body.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
Police investigated a complaint of a threat being made to a local business on Feb. 25. Police located and spoke with the adult suspect. Due to the circumstances no charges were laid though the suspect was warned about future conduct.
Police responded to a hit and run accident in the Leisure Centre parking lot on Feb. 27. During the investigation police observed what appeared to be the imprint of the offending vehicle's license plate on the victim's auto. The other party was later located and the matter concluded with no criminal charges being laid.
During a routine traffic stop on Saturday, police located open alcohol in a vehicle and determined the driver had been drinking. The driver was given a demand for a roadside test and as result was given a 24-hour suspension. The driver also received a ticket for open alcohol in a vehicle.
While on patrol on Sunday, police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at Third Street and Railway Avenue. The vehicle was stopped and a roadside demand was given which the driver failed. An adult male was arrested and the subsequent investigation and breath test confirmed the male was over .08. The male was charged with impaired driving and over driving while his blood alcohol was over .08. He was later released and will appear in court in April.
Recently police have also been focusing on distracted drivers; over 250 vehicles were stopped with many tickets handed out for using cellular devices. According to SGI statistics, a large percentage of reported accidents are caused by distracted driving. Motorists are reminded to pull over and stop when using a cell phone. The city police will continue to be on the lookout for these offenders.
City police received a report of a fraud on Feb. 21. The complainant says someone claimed his son was in an accident and needed money and it should be sent via Western Union to Quebec. Later after speaking to his son it was determined it was a fraud. Residents are reminded this type of fraud commonly known as the grandparent scam is reported quite often. If you receive a call asking for insurance or bail money from someone claiming to be a relative, always call local police and do not send the money unless the call is confirmed.
Police were called to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at Second Street and First Avenue North on Feb. 21. No injuries were reported but a tow truck was called to remove one of the vehicles.
Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle accident between a snow grader and a parked vehicle on Feb. 18. The vehicle was damaged and police were able to locate the owner to inform them of the damage. No injuries were reported.
Police are investigating a complaint of identity theft where an individual stated someone had used their name for a traffic ticket in Estevan on Feb. 18. The investigation was started and then forwarded to the Estevan Police Service for assistance.
Police were called to investigate several minor hit-and-runs to parked vehicles.
Drivers are reminded to either supply their name and address to the other party involved or report the accident to police. Failing to do so can result in charges under the Highway Traffic Act or in more serious cases under the Criminal Code.
Police were called to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at Highway 39 and Third Street on Feb. 20. The accident resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles and required a tow truck be called to clear the intersection. There were no injuries reported. One driver was charged for disobeying a red light.
Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving a downtown drinking establishment on Feb. 20. Police located the suspected vehicle, and the subsequent investigation determined the male driver had been drinking but was not over the legal limit. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and was charged with possession. He was released for court in April.
Police were called by a local taxi company when a fare refused to pay their bill on Feb. 23. The matter is under investigation.
