Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of January 8 to January 16: During the reporting period, police received 93 calls for assistance. Police have been receiving complaints of coyotes in the city limits.

During the reporting period, police received 93 calls for assistance.

Police have been receiving complaints of coyotes in the city limits. The public is advised not to approach the coyotes. If you see a coyote within city limits, be sure to contact the police.

*On January 16, a 38 year old Weyburn male was arrested after members of the Weyburn Police Service Organized Crime section executed a search warrant in the city. A quantity of cocaine and two firearms were seized. The male faced charges of one count of trafficking cocaine and two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm in court on January 17.

*On January 15, police attended a liquor establishment in regards to a fight in the parking lot. During the fight, a van was damaged. A 25 year old male is now facing charges of mischief, resisting arrest and fighting in public. The accused will be making a court appearance next month.

*A 28 year old male is facing charges of driving while impaired and driving while over 08. Police stopped the accused operating a motor vehicle in the 200 block of 4th Street. The accused will be making a court appearance later this month.

*On January 14, a concerned motorist contacted police regarding youths walking in the middle of the street and jumping in front of cars. Police located the youths and a warning was issued.

*On January 13, police responded to two motor vehicle accidents. The first occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of #13 and #39 highways. There were no injuries. At 6:40 p.m., police attended to the intersection of Brownlee Street and #39 highway, where a vehicle attempting a left turn onto the highway had been struck by an eastbound vehicle. There were no injuries and roads were extremely icy at the time.

*Police received a complaint of a person causing a disturbance at the Weyburn Fair grounds. The person was located and warned about his actions.

*During a routine traffic stop, a 19 year old driver from Weyburn was found to be disqualified from driving. He was charged and will be making a court appearance later this month.

*On January 12, a person contacted the police complaining of unknown persons on his property. Further investigation found that unknown persons had been ringing his door bell and banging on his windows. No persons were located and the investigation is ongoing.

*A complaint was received of a noisy party in the 100 block of 12th Street. Police located the source of the noise and a warning was given.

*On January 11, police attended to a noise complaint in the 1600 block of Clarke Avenue. An investigation revealed that persons in the parking lot were yelling at persons inside the dwelling. All were warned about their actions.

*A male contacted police regarding to a hit and run to his vehicle. The victim had parked his vehicle in the 1000 block of Sims Avenue. When he returned to his vehicle he found that someone had struck the front and not left any information. An investigation is ongoing.

*On January 10, during the night, a truck was parked on the 400 block of 6th Street. When the owner went to his truck in the morning there were several items taken. Investigation is ongoing.

*On January 9, a male reported to the Police Station concerning a dispute with his roommate. Police attended to the residence and the situation was resolved without any charges.

*A 22 year old male was stopped during a traffic check. As a result it was found that the driver was disqualified. Accused will be appearing in court later this month.

*Owners of a home in the 600 block of Moffat Drive contacted police stating their home had been broken into. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.

*On January 8, police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 500 block of 5th Street for a traffic offence. The driver stopped the vehicle and attempted to run from police but was caught after a short foot chase. The 18 year old driver is facing charges of driving while over .08, impaired driving and speeding. The accused will be making a court appearance later this month.

*A female contacted police in regard to receiving unwanted text messages. Police contacted the accused and warned her about her actions.

*Police received a complaint about persons causing problems at Crescent Point Place. Police located three youths and they were warned about their actions. They apologized to the persons in the rink whom they had upset.

*Police were contacted in regards to a theft of cash over the internet. A person had purchased a watch. When the watch was received, it would not work. The person returned the watch and her money has not been returned. An investigation is ongoing.
