Police investigate thefts of wire, cable at Sask. Power

This theft is believed to be linked to three reports received on July 21 of welding cable and copper cable being stolen, or attempted to be stolen from parked vehicles at the Sask. Power Compound.

The Weyburn Police Service are working with Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers to solve the crime. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for these offenses or any other serious crimes.

Police officers investigated a complaint of threatening text messages on July 18 and the matter was mediated.

A complaint of a fraudulent phone call was reported, where the caller identifies himself as a computer repair technician and asks the victim for personal information.

An assault that occurred at a local residence was investigated by police officers, and they also responded to a hit and run accident on July 18. Both incidents are still under investigation.

Incidents on July 19 included a fight outside a local bar that was settled; an assault that is under investigation; a complaint of shoplifting, where a local male was arrested and charged with theft and a domestic dispute that was mediated.

Another domestic dispute between family members occurred on July 20, and the matter was settled without further incident.

Police officers investigated a possible missing person on July 21, who was later located.

A report of willful damage to a vehicle by keying it was handled on July 21, and still under investigation. There was also a damage report to a garage, where an item was thrown through a window resulting in a vehicle being damaged.

Another report of damage to a vehicle that had a window smashed out was received on July 22. Members of the Weyburn Police Service also assisted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with a motor vehicle accident on Highway 39.

Several alarm calls were received on July 23, and on that same day police officers issued several tickets for liquor infractions, and one driver had his drivers license suspended.
