Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of March 4 to 10:
During the reporting period, police responded to 101 calls for service.
*On March 9, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Railway Avenue. The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment and was taken to the police station where he was tested with a breathalyzer and was shown to be over .08. The driver was charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08. He will appear in court in April.
*Police responded to a fight in progress in the 300 block of Third Street involving four individuals. Police separated the individuals involved and tried to determine what had transpired. The individuals involved were not cooperative and the assault allegations remain under investigation.
*Police received a complaint of a vehicle damaged by having the front windshield broken. The vehicle had been tarped as was parked in the 700 block of Fifth Street north when someone had thrown a garbage can into the front windshield. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation into this incident continues.
*On March 8, police responded to a two-vehicle accident after an individual, who was backing out of his driveway, collided with a pay-loader that was cleaning the streets. There were no injuries and only minor damages.
*A fire alarm was received from a residence in the 800 block of Souris Avenue. Police, along with the fire department, attended and located a power box that had shorted out, causing a minor fire. SaskPower attended. There was minor damage and no injuries reported.
*Police attended to a northeast residence after receiving 9-1-1 calls from the occupants, who stated there was a man yelling at them and they felt threatened. Police located an individual who had been drinking and was causing a disturbance. The situation was resolved and the individual who was causing the commotion was taken home by a friend.
*Police received a report of a hit and run that had occurred in the 100 block of First Avenue. The complainant had observed a white Ford truck as it backed into his own parked car, then leaving the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
*On March 7, police attended an accident at the intersection of Highway #39 and Government Road. There were no injuries. One driver was charged for failing to stop for a red light.
*Police witnessed a two vehicle accident at the corner of 16th Street and Warren Avenue. A vehicle was unable to stop and it then rear-ended a stopped truck. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and the damage required one vehicle to be towed from the scene.
*On March 6, police attended to a family disagreement. One of the individuals had left the home and with weather conditions created some concern. The individual was located by police and returned home.
*Police attended to a parking lot in front of a local business to remove a drunken individual that was passed out in the early morning hours. The drunk was taken home.
*Police received a complaint of mischief done to a vehicle that had been parked in the 300 block of 18th Street. There were no suspects identified to police. The matter is still under investigation.
*Police entered into a joint investigation with Social Services around allegations of physical abuse directed at a child from the parent. The matter is still under investigation.
*Police attended a local business to investigate a report of a fraud against the business by a customer. The investigation continues into the matter.
*On March 5, in the early morning hours, police were called to a local bar to remove an intoxicated patron. The individual was taken into custody, where he was lodged in cells until he was sober.
*Police attended an accident on Highway #39 involving a vehicle that struck a deer. The deer had to be destroyed by the police because of the injuries resulting from the accident.
*Police received a complaint of a hit and run accident to two different vehicles that were parked by a residence in the northeast area of the city. There are no suspects and the incident remains under investigation.
*Police received a complaint from a victim of a fraud. The individual had pre-paid for a service and then did not receive the service. After a short investigation it was determined to be a civil matter. The individual was informed of how to initiate a small claims action.
*Police attended to an accident on Fifth Avenue northeast. The driver had collided into a parked vehicle. Road conditions were a factor in the accident.
*On March 4, police attended to a downtown business that reported damage to their building. It was revealed that a vehicle had run into the building the night before, causing damage, and left the scene. The matter is under investigation.
*Police received a complaint of theft of tools. The tools were stored in a garage on the north side of town when they were taken. The matter remains under investigation.
*Police responded to an accident involving a city grader and a parked vehicle. The grader was doing snow removal and clipped a parked vehicle. The owners and operators were directed to report to insurance.
