Police report problem-free Halloween

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of October 31 to November 6: *On November 6, police attended a motor vehicle accident as a result of very icy and slippery streets on the 600 block of Coteau Avenue.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of October 31 to November 6:

*On November 6, police attended a motor vehicle accident as a result of very icy and slippery streets on the 600 block of Coteau Avenue. Police advise that as winter approaches people should check their tires, give themselves more time to travel to destinations and to use caution until road surfaces improve.

*On November 5, police attended the Weyburn Trailer court to investigate erratic driving.

*On November 4, a female shoplifter was apprehended at the Weyburn Esso.

*A man was arrested for assaulting a student near the Weyburn Comprehensive school. After the matter was investigated the man was charged for assault.

*Police investigated a theft of money from unattended personal clothing left in a change room. Charges were laid.

*On November 3, police attended a bar disturbance at the King George. Two men re-entered the bar after being asked to leave. One man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for being drunk in public.

*There continues to be problems in the Souris school area with motorists disobeying bus arms. Buses load and unload on Fifth Avenue on the north side of the school. Motorists cannot pass the buses while lights are activated.

*Several residents were solicited by individuals identifying themselves as PC Care. They want to tap into home computers and they are very convincing. Police urge residents not to give out personal information over the phone.

*Police were called to a disturbance at the Royal Hotel. An intoxicated man was damaging property inside the hotel. The matter is still under investigation.

*An intoxicated male driver turned off Highway 39 and almost collided with a patrol car. He was arrested for impaired driving. The man was operating an unregistered vehicle and was a disqualified driver.

*On November 2, police attended a domestic dispute. A girl was damaging the interior of the home. She was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was also charged for breaching her Undertaking.

*On October 31, a man was charged for shop lifting at the Weyburn Coop Food store.

*A farm cart was taken from an alley in the Washington Drive area. It is grey in color.

*The police service would like to report a safe and problem free Halloween, extending a sincere thank you to all the young children and teenagers for respecting the property of others. Thanks as well to the motorists for driving with extra caution.

*The Salvation Army store is requesting that unusable items not be discarded at the store. They do not have the resources to handle the extra work to dispose of them.
