Police respond to variety of complaints

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of January 22 to 29: During the reporting period, police dealt with 102 calls for service. Many of the calls were alcohol-related and there were also a number of thefts reported.

During the reporting period, police dealt with 102 calls for service. Many of the calls were alcohol-related and there were also a number of thefts reported.

*On January 29, police received a complaint about harassing text messags being sent from one man to another. The investigation is ongoing.

*On January 28, officers attended a noisy party complaint in the Tom Hart Drive area. The resident was quick to comply with officers requests to terminate the party. He was warned and the incident was handled without charges.

*Shortly after this incident another party was reported in progress on Laing Cres.

*Police are investigating the misuse of a personal credit card. The card may have been skimmed in the fall of 2011. The investigation will continue.

*Police attended a noisy party on 11th Street. The matter was resolved without charges, but a warning was issued. If another complaint is received in six months, charges will be laid.

*On January 27, police assisted the Fire Department and Sask Energy in dealing with a gas leak in the 16th Street area.

*On January 26, police attended a bar fight at the King George Hotel. The person responsible fled before police arrival and charges are pending.

*Officers attended a three-car collision at the intersection of First Avenue and Government Road.

*Police attended a residence to assist EMS deal with an emotionally distressed man. Alcohol was involved. The man was taken to hospital.

*On January 25, police investigated a complaint of someone trafficking drugs in the community. A search of a residence revealed a sufficient quantity of marijuana to lay a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

*The Circle 6 Motel complained about a patron leaving without paying for his stay. A warrant to locate this individual will be requested. He has several other similar charges awaiting disposition in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

*Police attended the Royal Hotel to deal with a fight in progress. The matter is still under investigation and charges may result.

*On January 24, officers located a male person outside the King George in a very intoxicated condition. He was arrested and placed in cells.

*Police investigated a fraudulent e-mail that requested personal credit card information. The complainant became suspicious and avoided personal loss.

*On January 23, officers attended the King George Hotel when a patron refused to pay his tab and then leave the bar. The matter was mediated without having to lay charges.

*Police along with Social Services investigated a case of reported child abuse. The matter will be under investigation.

*Police investigated a stolen iPod from a residence in the Weyburn Trailer Court. The iPod was located and returned to the owner.

*On January22, police received a complaint of a stolen lap top computer from a residence. The person responsible was located and the lap top was recovered and returned to the owner. Due to circumstances involved no charges were laid.
