Pro-Life group to host banquet

The Assiniboia and District Pro-Life will host their spring banquet at the St. George’s Parish Centre on Sunday, May 6 at 6 p.m. The keynote speaker is Carla Carlson, a Swift Current area lawyer and palliative care advocate.

The Assiniboia and District Pro-Life will host their spring banquet at the St. George’s Parish Centre on Sunday, May 6 at 6 p.m.

The keynote speaker is Carla Carlson, a Swift Current area lawyer and palliative care advocate. Carla Carlson was born in a small town in Saskatchewan, the daughter of a lawyer and  an accountant. She first obtained her Social Work Degree and served as a social worker, often working with abused children in disadvantaged families.

Her work  often took her to court which showed her the opportunities to effect change as a lawyer. She thus entered law school in Saskatchewan and earned her law degree with distinction.  She now practices law with her father in the Swift Current area.

 Carla was led to become actively involved with the promoting the principles of palliative care by the death of her mother from cancer.  She has volnteered extensively in this field and was recognized for her work with and promoting palliative care by being awared the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

 Carla Carlson has written a book, Everyday Grace, which she will have on sale at the pro-life banquet. Carla is married and the mother of two daughters.  She also is involved with her community.
