Public asked to support Trossachs hall

The Brokenshell Parks and Recreation Board is appealing to the public to support them as they try to fund-raise to save the Trossachs Hall.

The Brokenshell Parks and Recreation Board is appealing to the public to support them as they try to fund-raise to save the Trossachs Hall.
The Trossachs Hall is the heart of the community, located in the small hamlet located west of Weyburn on Highway 13.

The hall was host to the RM of Brokenshell Centennial in 2010, and in 2011, events hosted included Easter egg hunts, wing nights, fowl suppers and snowmobile derbies.

The hall was built in 1965 and has hosted many celebrations and 4-H achievement days. The hall basement was built using cinder blocks, and over time those walls have begun to deteriorate.

The Parks and Rec Board set out with the goal of raising $117,000 to completely replace the basement by July 2012. They received Community Initiatives Grant of $50,000, which are matching funds, meaning the board has to raise the same amount to match.
Currently the board is holding a raffle, with a draw date of Sunday, Jan. 15, but not even half of the tickets have been sold as yet.
The tickets are $25 each, with a first prize of a 2011 Chevy Cruze, second prize a $3,000 CAA travel voucher, and third prize is a $500 fuel card from the Co-op.

Tickets are available by phoning or dropping by the RM of Brokenshell office in Weyburn. Ticket sales will end at midnight on Jan. 14, with the draw on Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. at the Trossachs Hall.
