Quota International of Weyburn and SaskPower launched the 11th annual Women of the Year Awards on February 9, which recognizes the contributions of women in the Weyburn and district community.

Kathy Coroluick, Awards Chair, called on local businesses and community groups to nominate women for four awards: SaskPower Workplace Excellence Award, Quota International of Weyburn Community Service Award, the Investors Group Young Woman of Distinction Award and Access Communications Exceptional Entrepreneur Award.

Presentations will be made at an awards luncheon Tuesday, April 12 at McKenna Hall. The keynote speaker will be Joanne Thomson, Vice-Principal of Assiniboia Park elementary School and Learning Support Teacher.

"A committee will select four women from among the nominees to receive awards," said Coroluick. "The awards acknowledge the contributions of women and it provides us with an opportunity to raise funds for two worthwhile areas of service - disadvantaged women and children and for hearing and speech impaired persons."

Nomination forms for Women of the Year Awards are available at Brady's House of Flowers. Deadline for submissions is March 14.

For more information, contact Quota Club members Marlene Yurkowski, Karla Kennedy or Connie Regier.
