Quota International of Weyburn, in partnership with SaskPower, opened nominations for the 13th annual Women of the Year awards event on Feb. 5.
Lorraine Wilkinson and Norma Buydens, co-chairs of the Women of the Year awards, called on local businesses and community groups to nominate women for four awards.
The SaskPower Workplace Excellence Award will be presented to a woman who has excelled in the workplace by displaying a superior effort and a true desire to significantly improve her profession, work environment and workplace efficiency.
The Quota International of Weyburn Community Service Award will recognize a woman who, as a volunteer, has demonstrated a commitment to enrich her community. This includes alleviating social inequities, to strengthen volunteer participation, to educate or to provide leadership in the community.
The Access Communications Exceptional Entrepreneur Award is presented to a woman for exceptional leadership or innovation in starting, operating or owning a business and who remains active in the business.
The Investors Group Young Woman of Distinction Award will be presented to a young woman between the ages of 18 and 30 who made a significant contribution to the life of her community and who demonstrates a capacity for leadership.
All nominees for a Women of the Year award must be 18 years of age, and must be living or reside in Weyburn or within a 50-kilometre radius of Weyburn.
Nomination forms for Women of the Year awards and tickets for the awards luncheon are available at Brady's House of Flowers. Deadline for submission of nominations is Mar. 15.
A nominees tea will be held on Mar. 24 at Grace United Church. The actual awards will be presented during a luncheon on April 15 at McKenna Hall.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Senator Raynell Adreychuk, Canadian senator for Saskatchewan, lawyer, former judge and diplomat.
