Weyburn RCMP are currently investigating a two vehicle motor vehicle collision, which occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m. on September 22 at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 39 in Weyburn. Members of the Weyburn Police Service, Weyburn Fire Department, Weyburn Sun Country Health Region Ambulance and the Weyburn RCMP Detachment responded to the incident.

The police investigation revealed that a south bound pickup truck driven on Highway 39 was struck by a four door car proceeding east across Highway 39 on Highway 13 resulting in significant damage to both the car and the pickup truck. The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to spin around and roll onto its side into the south ditch of Highway 39.

The 37 year old male driver of the pickup truck was uninjured while the 86 year old female driver of the car had to be freed from her car by Weyburn Fire Department and transported to Weyburn General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

South bound traffic on Highway 39 as well as east and west bound traffic on Highway 13 had to be temporarily re-routed around the scene of the collision, but normal traffic flow resumed within one hour.

The RCMP investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
