Redvers man drowns in ditch

A 33-year-old Redvers man suffered an untimely death due to drowning. Members of the RCMP Carlyle detachment were called to a grid road, approximately nine miles south of the community of Carlyle, on June 2 at approximately 1:30 p.m.

A 33-year-old Redvers man suffered an untimely death due to drowning.

Members of the RCMP Carlyle detachment were called to a grid road, approximately nine miles south of the community of Carlyle, on June 2 at approximately 1:30 p.m.The call indicated that a vehicle was off the traveled portion of theroad and police were called toinvestigate.Discovered in the roadside ditch,submerged in a shallow body of water,was the body of a deceased adult male from Redvers.

An autopsy was completed at the Regina General Hospital.Preliminary results from the autopsy indicate that the death was a result of a drowning.Foul play is not suspected in the death of the adult male.

Carlyle detachment members are being assisted in this investigationby the RCMP Major Crime Unit out of Regina, the Yorkton Forensic Identification Section, the Regina RCMP General Investigations Section as well as the RCMP Police Service Dog from Swift Current.The office of the Provincial Coroner is also a part of this investigation.

The name of the deceased is not being released atthe request of the family.
