Regina couple has a $500,000 winning ticket

A Regina couple doesn't have any extravagant plans for their $500,000 lottery win, but it's helping them sleep at night.

Darcy Cornelisse picked a ticket worth $500,000.

Darcy Cornelisse and his wife needed to hit the hay after scanning Cornelisse’s LOTTO MAX ticket for the June 18 draw and discovering it was worth $500,000.

“We were out of sorts when we realized we’d won. We didn’t know how to feel. Is this real?” recalled Cornelisse while claiming his prize.

“Immediately after, we both just felt really tired from all the excitement and we went to bed early, believe it or not,” he laughed.

Cornelisse picked up his winning ticket the morning of the draw from the Sherwood Co-op Chuka-Green Falls C-Store at 3799 Chuka Blvd. in Regina. His ticket and another in Alberta matched the winning numbers – 4, 18, 24, 25, 28, 29, 41 – to take home half of one of the draw’s 70 advertised MAXMILLIONS prizes.

Cornelisse says the couple doesn’t have any extravagant plans for the windfall – just mostly home renovations and “a comfortable retirement.”
