Review wins five awards for excellence

The Weyburn Review was once again recognized for its excellence in news coverage, as the paper brought home four first-place awards and a second-place award from the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association annual convention.



The Weyburn Review was once again recognized for its excellence in news coverage, as the paper brought home four first-place awards and a second-place award from the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association annual convention.

The winners of the Better Newspapers Competition were announced at the convention over the weekend.

The first-place awards included, in the General Excellence category, Best Overall Paper, and Best Front Page, both for its circulation class.

The Review also won first place for Best Agricultural coverage in a single story, for a story by Greg Nikkel on customized agricultural practices, entitled, "Beaubier farmer suggests a revolution for growing produce".

The other first-place award was for Best Educational Coverage for K-12 by the Review newsroom, with selections from throughout the year showing the range of coverage provided of local schools.

The last award was second place for Best Feature Photo, for a photo of a skateboarder at the Youth Center's skateboard park by Greg Nikkel.
