Reeve Carmen Sterling acknowledged that the timing is not the best, considering harvest activities are underway, but she said the contractor has agreed to try and keep at least one lane open to local traffic.
The construction in on Range Road 2151, which is known locally as Ken Rubin's Road, which connects Highway 13 up to the Viterra and Pioneer Grain terminals.
"It depends on how much dirt has to be moved; we're hoping this project will be done as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of the month," said the reeve.
There were also repairs made to the intersection of Highway 39 and 22nd Avenue, and are now awaiting the arrival of the paving crew to Weyburn to finish the intersection off, hopefully this fall.
Reeve Sterling noted their recent council meeting was also told there has been a fair amount of vandalism occurring in the RM in recent weeks.
Some of the incidents have involved farm equipment or farm houses getting their windows smashed out, and small items being stolen.
The reeve recommends that residents who are leaving equipment in the fields to take care to leave them so they're not easily accessible from the road; also, if residents see vehicles or people around who are not normally seen in the area, or who are acting suspicious, to report them immediately to the police.
She added that oilfield sites have been experiencing some losses as well as farm sites. While it's true that more and more strange vehicles are in the area due to the increase in population, residents should pay attention to what strange vehicles are doing in the area, said Reeve Sterling.
