A potential robber was left empty-handed and in jail following a theft attempt at a north side convenience store on Dec. 22.

Estevan Police Service (EPS) personnel were dispatched to the store based on a report they received regarding a potential theft that had just taken place.

The suspect had entered the store armed with a knife and demanding money.

No money was surrendered, and the suspect fled on foot toward a north central gas station. Police went immediately to the gas station where they apprehended a 26-year-old man who was transported to police cells after being charged.

No one was injured as a result of these incidents, and the would-be robber made his first court appearance in Regina on Dec. 23 where he faced charges of robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, being in breach of an undertaking and committing an indictable offence while disguised.

The man was remanded in custody until a later court date.
