Safe ride offered for hotel guests

Weyburn's newest hotel, the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham is located in a rapidly developing area of Weyburn and when built out, will feature a multitude of dining choices within walking distance of the hotel.

Until such time however, three local businesses have seen an opportunity to cross market their services to the inbound corporate and leisure traveler where all parties win.

"Many of our guests stay for several nights and like to go out to the local food and beverage establishments in our city. We want our guests to enjoy all that Weyburn has to offer while also ensuring they have a safe ride home," said Microtel General Manager Andrew Arksey.

The idea was the brainchild of Boston Pizza Owner Garth Hilts and Arksey.

"We came up with the idea of getting our clients to and from our businesses safely through the provision of a taxi program that costs our hotel guests nothing. The program is a partnership between Microtel Inn & Suites, Boston Pizza and Country Cabs," said Arksey. "It is a no-cost option for guests to get out and enjoy themselves while putting dollars into our local economy supporting the business."

Hilts added the program is a way to ensure guests arrive back to the hotel safely if they have enjoyed a beverage or two.

'If people are in town and have to eat, why not get them to and from our businesses conveniently and safely," said Hilts.
