SARCAN building plans underway

Construction of the new Day Program Building, SARCAN Recycling Depot and Vocational Training Centre will begin this fall.

Construction of the new Day Program Building, SARCAN Recycling Depot and Vocational Training Centre will begin this fall.

These buildings will be located at 1800 Ebel Road in the new industrial park subdivision," said Andria Brady, executive director.

SARCAN is partnering with DSI Contracting with more than 35 years of construction experience, specializing in both residential and commercial buildings.

"We are pleased to be working with the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop Corp. and excited to be a part of this historic expansion of their new facilities" said Justin Iversen, Owner, DSI Contracting.

The new Day Program Building will provide three times the amount of space and will offer significantly enhanced options for programs and services. These things are not possible at the current overcrowded location.

The brand new, fully modern SARCAN Recycling Depot will be more than twice the size of the current space. The building design will incorporate enhanced customer service lanes, enhanced material handling capabilities, and improved staff facilities.

The new Vocational Training Centre will house the agency's wood shop along with the paper & cardboard recycling operations, providing employment opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities, and supplying products and services to Weyburn and southeast Saskatchewan.

The staff and program participants are looking forward to moving into these new locations in 2014.

"The permit process is underway and we look forward to announcing our official groundbreaking in the near future", said Brady.
