Agencies that provide problem gambling help line services in the province are receiving approximately $287,000 in funding from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).

"Our government remains committed to the prevention and treatment of problem gambling," Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Tim McMillan said. "This funding will help ensure that people who have difficulties with gambling continue to have access to trained professionals who can provide them with the support that they need."

SLGA is providing $97,742 to Prince Albert Mobile Crisis Unit Co-operative Ltd., $94,958 to Saskatoon Crisis Intervention Service Inc. and $94,164 to Mobile Crisis Services Inc. of Regina.

The annual funding is used to help support 24-hour a day, seven day-a-week crisis management services, including the toll-free Problem Gambling Help Line. The Help Line (1-800-306-6789) handles inquiry and crisis calls related to problem gambling and provides confidential, professional service to problem gamblers and their families from trained counsellors. The services are administered by the Ministry of Health.
