Poor children in rural Kenya clutch teddy bears made with love and sent from Weyburn and area which were collected at the annual Teddy Bear Tea. Marnie Bernard, sister-in-law of Gail Wolters who founded Canadian Nurses for Africa, organizes the effort to make items needed by the poor people of rural Kenya and send them to Wolters, who distributes them to patients she treats at charitable clinics. This year's Teddy Bear Tea is scheduled for Saturday, August 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Weyburn Public Library. Bernard said everybody is welcome, regardless of whether or not they donate anything.
