"I am extremely excited," said Tenille. "I really know what I am going into this year (for the competition). All these songs are brand new, and I think they will appeal to a younger crowd."
This contest is produced by SaskMusic on behalf of Bell Media - Big Dog 92.7. The other two finalists were Amy Nelson of Regina and Blake Berglund of Kennedy.
The top three finalists will perform in a showdown of their original music in Regina on Thursday, June 26. A panel of Canadian music industry professionals will adjudicate their performances and select the winner, who will be announced that same evening.
Each emerging country artist is competing for a chance to win a custom-tailored prize package valued at more than $15,000, consisting of a cash prize, plus options of their choosing, such as a professional single released to national radio, showcasing for music industry professionals, and hands-on career guidance.
Each artist submitted two original music tracks plus biographical and other information for consideration in this competition. Tenille felt that her two submitted songs were definitely her favourites. "I feel that I have progressed a lot in my singing career since last year. I have had the opportunity to work with a lot of good and talented people."
Tenille had worked with her new production team to develop the songs, and she also had the opportunity to work with professionals in Nashville, Tenn.
At age 20, Tenille has won countless regional vocal competitions and performed at Craven Country Jamboree, Casino Regina and Telemiracle. She was a finalist on the Idol-style talent show, Karaoke Star Junior and represented Saskatchewan in Canada's National talent competition in 2009. A discovery of her music on YouTube has led to a team of industry elite forming around Tenille, and she is now writing songs for her first album, due to release this year.
