For a second year in a row, the Family Place Festival of Trees fundraiser brought in $60,000.
"It was outstanding," said executive director Dawn Gutzke. "We did match last year, which was over-the-top record breaking."
Not only did the Family Place meet last year's total, Gutzke said the turn out November 28 for the auction at Barber Motors was the best it's ever been.
The live auction for the trees brought the Family Place $42,000 and the remainder were proceeds from the silent auction, the TS&M Ipad raffle and the loonie tree.
"Fletcher Funeral Chapel set up their Angel Tree again," said Gutzke. The tree displays angels purchased for $5 in memory of a loved one who has passed. The tree brought in $1,000.
The two trees that were purchased for the most amount of money were the Voracity CrossFit tree, purchased for $4,200 by Jeff Tosczak of Great Plains Ford, and the Barber Motors tree which went for $4,100 to Dale Ziegler of Carson's Energy Service.
In the true giving spirit of Christmas, five trees were purchased and donated back to the Family Place to give to families.
Ron and Patti Evans of Par Contracting purchased two trees to donate back. Goliath Disposal, Glenn Ziegler and Re/Max all purchased a tree to give to a family.
Barber Motors has offered up their showroom again for the 2014 Festival of Trees.
The Family place holds three major fundraisers per year, the community garage sale, the Royal Ball and the Festival of Trees.
