The Maryfield Ag Society Fair is almost here

The summer is the perfect time to hold fairs and exhibitions. Maryfield Agricultural Society is continuing with its long standing tradition and holding their 97th annual fair on July 26.

The summer is the perfect time to hold fairs and exhibitions. Maryfield Agricultural Society is continuing with its long standing tradition and holding their 97th annual fair on July 26. Admission to the Fair Grounds will be $5 for adults and $4 for students.

The day will begin with a delicious pancake breakfast held between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. People are encouraged to enjoy the breakfast, which is sponsored by the Borderland Co-op in Moosomin. For $5 a plate it is a delicious way to start the day.

After pancakes are enjoyed the events for the day will begin. Starting at 9 a.m. will be the horse show. Usually with a break around noon, it is a daylong event. Other indoor and outdoor exhibits will also be set up throughout the day.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. a tailgate sale will be held, much like a garage sale but out of the box of your truck. To book a site call Helen at 646-4348.

Once again Antique Appraiser Vern Reese will be attending. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. one can take their treasured belongings to him. It is $10 an item or $25 for three items. A written appraisal will be an additional $15. They accept a wide arrange of objects, but ask that no collections or stamps be brought in.

Taffy's Inflatables will make an appearance again this year bringing nine-hole mini-golf and other fun bouncers for the youth.

Making his debut appearance at the Maryfield Ag Fair will be Chainsaw Artist, Wade Anderson. He will be performing carving demonstrations. This will be a unique event that is not to be missed as he shapes two carvings throughout the day. His impressive skills will be showcased between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

An information session put on by the Moose Mountain Conservation Officers will also be held on July 26. They will address predator concerns, safety, hunting, and bear awareness. It will be useful information for everyone in the area.

Beginning in the Curling Rink at 1 p.m. will be The Borderland Co-op Price is Right! You may be the one chosen to, "Come on down." Testing your knowledge of merchandise prices you may walk away with great prizes.

There will also be children's entertainment throughout the day provided by FunTAZMusic with storytelling. This kid's time will be brought to you by Borderland Co-op and The Maryfield Ag Society.

Starting at 4 p.m. will be an exhibit auction. All proceeds will be given to the Rec Board to improve facilities. Able to buy pie, bread, buns, and other assorted items it is sure to be a tasty auction.

The day will then close with a roast pork supper at 5 p.m. At $10 for adults and $5 for children people are encouraged to stay for this fantastic meal.

Throughout the day a concession will be open offering items such as hamburgers, while the pie booth will also be set up for those who want something a bit sweeter.

Overall the day looks to be a great success. Everyone is encouraged to attend and enjoy the unique, exciting fair in Maryfield.
