REGINA — A fan with a little too much Rider Pride is facing charges after jumping onto the playing field in last weekend’s home game at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

The Regina Police Service has laid charges against Cole Chowen, 29, of Tisdale, Sask. following an incident  at the Saskatchewan Roughrider and Edmonton Elks game on Nov. 13.

Chowen, who was a fan watching the home game in the stands, allegedly jumped onto the playing field near the end of the game.

He ran from the south end zone to the north end zone, and up the steps to the concourse, where he was “promptly arrested” by police.

Following the incident, Chowen has been charged with mischief under $5,000, on the grounds that as a fan attending the game at Mosaic Stadium, he was “obstructing or interfering with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.”

Chowen has been released on an undertaking with conditions not to attend Mosaic Stadium.

He will make a first appearance in provincial court on Dec. 29.
