OXBOW - A town hall meeting will be held in Oxbow on Feb. 21 regarding service interruptions that have been taking place at the Galloway Health Centre’s emergency services department.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Organizers are looking to understand the reasons behind recent closures and what is being done to rectify this problem. They recognize that the meeting has been called on short notice, but they noted every time the health centre’s emergency room is closed, it has been on short notice.

According to an email for the meeting, since Jan. 1, the emergency services have been temporarily closed for 13 days and approximately 182 hours at that time.

“Those living in our communities have expressed frustration and concern over this issue. These closures have been the subject of many questions and few answers,” the email stated.

Two more disruptions occurred during the Family Day long weekend. One was from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, and the other was 6:30 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

Surrounding communities, politicians and representatives of the Saskatchewan Health Authority have been invited, along with the general public.
