Travis Patron's trial for hate speech begins in Estevan

ESTEVAN - A jury trial is underway at Court of King's Bench in Estevan for the former leader of the Canadian Nationalist Party.

Travis Patron of Redvers is charged with one count of wilfully promoting hatred to an identifiable group, stemming from a video that was posted to YouTube in June 2019. He was charged by the Carlyle RCMP in February 2021. .

Jury selection for the trial occurred Monday morning in Estevan. The trial is slated to continue Tuesday and Wednesday in Estevan, and resume on Oct. 3 until its conclusion.
