The latest collision on Highway 39 has claimed the lives of two women.
According to Weyburn RCMP, a two vehicle accident occurred at 2:40 Thursday afternoon half a kilometre north of Midale.
Although the investigation is ongoing, the RCMP are reporting that at this point it appears a northbound pickup truck, which had a lone male occupant, collided with a southbound truck occupied by two females. After the collision the northbound truck caught fire and had to be extinguished by firefighters.
The two females were both declared dead at the scene while the male was transported to hospital by the STARS air ambulance.
The names of the victims have not been released at this point.
The investigation into the accident is continuing and it was expected that the RCMP reconstructionists would be releasing the scene sometime Friday morning.
