Two Ontario residents dead in accident south of Alameda

Two people are dead after an accident south of Alameda Monday night.


Two people are dead after an accident south of Alameda Monday night.

According to a press release from Carnduff RCMP, a northbound 2008 Dodge Avenger failed to obey a stop sign at the junction of Highway 9 and Highway 18 and became trapped under the trailer of the eastbound tractor trailer unit.

The vehicle was removed from under the trailer however both occupants of the vehicle, a 25-year-old male and a 23-year-old male, both from Ontario, were killed in the accident.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The RCMP traffic analyst attended the scene as well as the local coroner. Highway 18 remained closed until 8:30 am Tuesday while the investigation was conducted. During this time traffic was routed around the affected portion of Highway 18 until the vehicles were removed from the highway. The RCMP traffic analyst, Carnduff RCMP detachment and local coroner are continuing to investigate the collision.
