The Weyburn Horticultural Society has two upcoming shows that they are encouraging all gardeners to participate in this year.
The annual Rose, Lily and Perennial Show is coming up on Tuesday, July 19 at the City Centre Mall with entries accepted between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Participants can enter all kinds of roses whether they are mini roses or hardy roses. There are different lily categories and perennial classes to enter as well. On August 5 and 6 the club will host their 86th annual Weyburn Horticultural Show at Knox Hall in conjunction with the annual Wheat Festival.Participants will have the opportunity to show their planters, house plants, cut flowers, gladiolus, dahlias, vegetables and fruits.
There are also junior exhibits accepted with categories such as flowers, vegetables and special categories in which youths can show a vegetable composition or make a floral arrangement that recognizes the Weyburn Red Wings celebrating 50 years.
Entries can be accepted for this show on Thursday, August 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday morning from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
The show is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m.on the 5thand 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 6th.The group will once againbe hostingthe Strawberry Shortcake Tea Room.Anyone requiring more information, show books, and entry tags can call June at 842-7879 or Grace at 842-4171.
