UPDATE: Estevan and Midale men dead after collision by Milestone

UPDATE:

MILESTONE — Milestone RCMP report two people died in a serious accident that occurred by Milestone on Jan. 27.

Milestone RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 39 near Corrine at approximately 12 p.m.

Officers responded immediately along with Milestone Fire Department and local EMS. The investigation determined two pick-up trucks collided. The drivers of both trucks were declared deceased by EMS at the scene.

One has been identified as a 76-year-old male from Midale. His family has been notified. An adult female passenger in the truck was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.

The driver and sole occupant of the other truck has been identified as a 50-year-old male from Estevan. His family has also been notified.

Milestone RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

The Milestone RCMP detachment is reporting Saturday afternoon that members are on scene of a serious motor collision involving two vehicles on Highway 39 approximately seven kilometres northwest of Milestone. 

The highway was blocked. 

Police are working on re-routing traffic around the scene while a collision analyst conducts an investigation.

Motorists can expect delays for the next several hours. 

All lanes are closed in both directions near Dump Road since just after 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, according to the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline website. Drivers are asked to be prepared to stop. Flag persons are on scene.
