Update: Individual arrested near Carlyle, faces numerous charges

The RCMP has issued an advisory following an assault.

Update:

The RCMP has announced the arrest of an individual wanted in connection with an incident near Langenburg.

According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers located the suspect and a stolen vehicle at a residence near Carlyle. The man was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, the RCMP says 37-year-old Aaron Kenneth Olney has been charged with the following offences resulting from a report of an assault on Jan. 3 near Langenburg:

  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Committing an assault carry a weapon;
  • Uttering threats to cause death;
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited;
  • Using a firearm while committing an indictable offence;
  • Pointing a firearm;
  • Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence;
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence;
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence;
  • Theft under $5,000; and
  • Theft of a motor vehicle.

All charges are under the Criminal Code. 

According to the RCMP, Olney is from Stoughton. 

Olney is scheduled to appear in court in Yorkton on Jan. 5. 

None of the charges have been proven in court.

RCMP officers in eastern Saskatchewan have issued an advisory following an incident. 

Esterhazy RCMP received the report of an assault at a residence north of Langenburg on Jan. 3 at 7:30 a.m. Officers responded immediately. Initial investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from the Langenburg and Esterhazy area following the commission of the violent offence.
