Update: Most highways in southeast Saskatchewan are open again

Many highways in the southeast were closed much of Wednesday and early Thursday

ESTEVAN - Highways in the Estevan area are open once again, as are most in the southeast.

Highways around Estevan and in much of the southeast were shut down Wednesday afternoon due to the powerful blizzard that struck the region. They remained closed throughout the night but reopened again early Thursday.

The only remaining closed stretch of highway is Highway 1 from Whitewood to the Manitoba border.

There are also a few lingering travel not recommended advisories for the region.

Other highways in the southeast report that winter conditions exist, including icy or slippery sections, loose snow, swirling snow, drifting snow and reduced visibility.

The blizzard warning for the southeast region was lifted late Wednesday night.
