There was one vehicle/pedestrian accident on Dec. 31 that disrupted what was a relatively quiet New Year's Eve in the Energy City.

Estevan Police Service (EPS) reported that an 18-year-old woman is facing charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, impaired driving causing bodily harm and operating a motor vehicle while her blood/alcohol level was over. 08 per cent.
The charges stemmed from a vehicle and pedestrian collision on King Street near a local restaurant on New Year's Eve.

The police report indicated a 20-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was struck by the vehicle that then left the scene.

EPS members located the vehicle and occupants a short distance from the accident scene while the victim was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police said they still have the incident under investigation and the woman who has been charged will make a Jan. 31 court appearance.

That same evening, police were called to a local lounge to look into a situation that involved a patron who was refusing the leave after being asked to do so by management. The person did depart the lounge prior to police arrival though, but was located just outside the establishment. He was sent on his way by police and no further action was required.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and lodged in cells for being intoxicated in public on the night of Dec. 31 and early morning hours of Jan. 1. He is also facing a charge of breaching the conditions of an undertaking by consuming alcohol and for being out past a court-ordered curfew.

A fight that broke out at a local lounge on New Year's Eve was attended to by EPS members who managed to disperse the crowd while sending the combatants on their separate ways.

EPS members were then asked to attend to a lobby of a local hotel where they encountered an intoxicated man. After a few questions were asked and answered, it was determined that the subject was at the wrong hotel so he was transported to the proper facility and to his room and no further action was required.

Earlier in the week, police had been called to a local lounge in response to a report of a fight in progress. They learned that a minor altercation had ensued after a patron had been asked to leave the premises.

The person who had been responsible for the outbreak was located a short distance from the lounge so police spoke with him, gathered some information and he was sent on his way with no further action being required.

On the night of Dec. 29, police responded to an alarm call at a local fast food business where they discovered that the business had been entered and money taken. The matter remains under investigation.
