On June 16 Wee Welcome Wawota Day Care held their third annual barbeque and carnival. At $5 kids were able to go crazy playing in the bouncy castles and other games that the staff of the day care set up. Able to win prizes and have fun, the children enjoyed themselves immensely.

Despite the overcast weather and the threat of rain all day, the carnival went on. Kids didn't notice the cool wind as they played outside. Kids from about 18 months to elementary school age greatly enjoyed the day.

There were two bouncers for the kids to enjoy: one for kindergarten and under, the other for older youth. The other games included a fishing pond where kids used nets to catch prizes and a bean bag toss. They were also extremely excited for face painting that was offered. Lions, butterflies, and other fun animals were all running around the carnival.

There was also a cake walk. A lot like musical chairs the kids skipped from number to number until the music stopped. They then waited for a number to be drawn, hoping it was theirs, to win a homemade cake. With multiple winners many youth went home very happy.

Parents, grandparents, and the day care staff were all present to partake in the fun with the youngsters. All enjoyed a fantastic meal at an extremely reasonable price. Hotdogs, hamburgers, various salads, and refreshments were enjoyed.

From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. the day care hosted around 100 people. They were able to raise money to put back into the day care. They extend their gratitude to all that attended.

The Wee Welcome Wawota Day Care is host to seven staff members and 30 spaces. Utilized by approximately fifty families in the area, using the available spaces as children aren't there every day, it is a fantastic facility that the community supports.

A new member to the Wee Welcome Day Care team will be coming soon. A family from Jamaica will be moving to the area. Saudia is a grade two teacher there at the moment and is excited to be coming to the community. The staff at the Day Care is excited to welcome her to their team.
